It is easy to be a Critic

I have heard it said that “it is easy to be a critic, but it takes guts to see the best in people”.
In my view it takes love to see the best in people, and love begets courage, and courage allows us to look and to act beyond our fears.
To do our best it is necessary to work outside our comfort zone……otherwise we are not stretching ourselves, otherwise we are simply repeating. And when we work outside our comfort zone then we have the capability to fail, or at least to make mistakes. And we don’t like to make mistakes….why?….because others may criticise, and that hurts.
I guess what I am trying to say is – follow your dreams, follow your heart, follow your intuition. Stop chasing money, because in the end life is not about how much you made, nor is it about comparing yourself to others, nor is it about listening when others compare you to them. Doing what inspires you is the only thing worth doing. Knowing what that is may take a lifetime, or you may know already, or it may change over your life. For some people doing what they love is a hobby, and their job is just an occupation to earn enough to live. Others choose a job which inspires them, irrespective of how much they get paid.
If you follow your dream/heart/intuition then be prepared for criticism. You will be judged for being different, you will be judged for the many failures and set-backs. Even if they don’t say it to your face, you will feel it: “Why are you doing that?”, “See I told you it wouldn’t work!”, the tutting, the cold shoulder.
Be aware that others will be following their dreams too. In my view this is precious. It is in our power to nurture others dreams, and it is in our power to kill them……so what will you do? Be curious and encouraging, or be critical and judgemental, be loving and kind, or be controlling and overpowering.
It is easy to be a critic, but it takes guts to see the best in people.
